The HORIZONT Digital Marketing Days, which took place at the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg on July 3rd and 4th, 2019, have become a trend check for the digital industry. They offer orientation in the digital marketing business and question current buzzwords. Short-term trends and sustainable developments were put to the test. ProCampaign® took part for the second time with a coffee bike and an exhibitor stand.

Top marketing decision-makers, digital professionals, as well as techies and innovation drivers presented themselves at the annual digital marketing meeting. On three parallel stages the participants were offered a lot. New on the second conference day this year was the HORIZONT Influencer Marketing Day.

AI as a driver of digitization and marketing

The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) as a driver of digitization and marketing played a major role. Prof. Dr. Peter Gentsch from the Chair of International Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences Aalen, Germany, repeatedly addressed the aspect of data quality in his opening keynote. This was the case when it came to data collection, where there were always gaps that would become even bigger if the 3rd-party cookies were omitted. It always had to be questioned "Do I have the data in sufficient quantity, do I know its business value?

Best cases for the application of AI followed from Lufthansa, Mercedes-Benz and Nano Interactive.

Social media continues to be a trend topic in digital marketing. Various business cases from Puma, Volkswagen and Maggi showed to what extent it can be a driver of content and commerce in the digital marketing mix.

The first day of the congress ended in a relaxed atmosphere with speakers and participants enjoying a delicious barbecue, a refreshing cold drink or two and a fantastic view of the harbour on the nearby Strand Pauli. Even the sun was still visible in the evening.
